jd2ksilver | My pulley on the tensioner for the Paxton froze on me yesterday. The tensioner is actually a Dayco part 373 0909 is what I can read, but they say not a good number. It is the pulley bearing itself that froze. The tensioner itself is good. But I sanded one side of the pulley so it would clear the AC belt better, and I cannot get any number off the pulley itself. If anyone has any info on this I would appreciate it. I could not even get a number off the bear race itself. I could wait for Paxton on Monday but they have been less and less supportive over time. Thanks, JD Here is the actual bad bearing and pulley I need.

KOL CAT | Hi JD, My Paxton parts list: 1016057 [Assy. Tensioner Pulley] No part number for Bearing. Post P/N when you find it. Kol Cat, Gene |
butchcee | can't you measure the ID, OD and bearing thickness for a replacement from a bearing house? |
jd2ksilver | Man, talk about a merry go-round. But I found everything. Paxton no longer carries spare parts (not actually made by them,) for kits they do not sell. The tensioner is a Dayco part # 89 402, which transfers to a Car quest part number 38514 But, the pulley on the Paxton tensioner assembly was special, not like the one on the stock tensioner. I got the last one off the shelf from Paxton. After lots of following up on this by Obi Wan and me. I found the actual pulley maker of the ones for Paxton. He no longer has the specs for them, but I am sending him my bad one to make me a spare of two. Anyone else want one let me know. The inside bearing of the pulley is a standard 6203 2RSJEM If you are lucky and only the bearing goes out on the pulley it is only a $8 part. But what happened to mine, and usually the case, once it went, it wobbled a larger hole in the pulley itself. So, I'm getting a spare set up, I suggest others think along the same route. Paxton no longer supports these items, so if it goes out, (and bearings do) you could be SOL. Mike make want to add these part numbers to the parts list. When I get the final number on the pulley I will post it. Anyway, be back up and running this afternoon. I'm developing a regular parts closet for this car.

jd2ksilver | Getting the bearing was no problem, but the damage was done to the rest. I bought the tensioner just to have it in case something else comes up.

jd2ksilver | Also, the bolt that holds the made pulley is a specail "step bolt" that I have to locate, or make em here. man,,, learn alot with this car. This message has been edited by jd2ksilver on 08-16-2005 at 08:17 PM |
1buddyc | You know what they always say JD...."Speed Costs Money, How Fast Do You Want To Go?" Not trying to be sarcastic, that's just the way it is.. Buddy |
jd2ksilver | Not only money, but sweat, even tears sometimes,,lol. (not mine of course,, ) |
RADCAT RICH | JD, dont forget, i have had 2 pulleys fail, and had the whole bracket assy replaced by Paxton (their expense, after squeezing their huevos), Dayco pulleys suck, the bearings fail! |
jd2ksilver | Bearings can be replaced. Will let you know what I find out. |
